Keir Starmer receives congratulations from colleagues around the world after his landslide victory in the UK election.
Congratulations come, among others, from Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).
"As close friends and allies, I look forward to working with you to improve our common security and prosperity", Kristersson writes on social media.
Estonia's Prime Minister Kaja Kallas – nominated by EU leaders as the union's next foreign minister – writes that "our excellent cooperation will only continue to flourish".
Talks with Macron
From Brussels, the President of the European Council Charles Michel congratulates on a "historic victory". He writes that the EU and the UK are crucial partners.
French President Emmanuel Macron announces that he has had a first conversation with Starmer.
"We will continue to work together with the UK on bilateral relations, peace and security in Europe, climate change and AI", Macron writes.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also congratulates on the victory.
He will become a very good, very successful prime minister, he says according to AFP.
Zelenskyj congratulates
The UK and Ukraine will "continue to be reliable allies in wet and dry", announces Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, who describes the Labour victory in the election as "convincing".
From the UK's neighboring country Ireland, Prime Minister Simon Harris looks forward to "working with you as close neighbors and friends".
US President Joe Biden also congratulates Starmer.
"I look forward to our joint work to support freedom and democracy around the world, and to further strengthen the special relationship between our two countries", Biden writes on X.
