"FIFA regrets the error and the inconvenience it has caused. The tickets that these supporters wanted have been reserved, and those affected have been offered the opportunity to purchase them at the correct price," FIFA wrote in a statement.
FIFA has been heavily criticized for so-called dynamic pricing, which has made many tickets expensive. American authorities have announced that they are investigating whether FIFA's pricing violates consumer protection laws in the country.
According to FIFA, around 60 supporters booked tickets that became free due to a technical error on the website.
