Wolfsburg sign Bernhardsson from league rival Kiel. The contract runs until 2029.

"When I heard about Wolfsburg's interest, it was special for me. This is the right step for me," says Bernhardsson.

In Kiel, he scored 15 goals and made 14 assists in 57 appearances, 19 of them in the Bundesliga. Bernhardsson joined the club from Elfsborg in 2024.

"We are very happy that he chose Wolfsburg despite interest from several big clubs," says the club's sporting director Pirmin Schwegler.

At Wolfsburg, Bernhardsson will be teammates with Mattias Svanberg. The team was relegated from the Bundesliga last season after 29 years in the top division, and is playing in the second division this season.

Bernhardsson started in Sweden's three group-stage matches during the World Cup.
