Cape Verde's 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha came from Portugal's second division and impressed at the World Cup by keeping a clean sheet against eventual world champions Spain. His play and dedication made the whole world follow the small island nation's success. On social media, followers poured in – on Instagram he went from a modest 50,000 followers to almost 30 million.
Now it is clear that the 40-year-old has signed for Chile's biggest football club, Colo Colo.
"Welcome, we are waiting for you," the club writes on social media.
At Colo Colo, Vozinha will be a teammate of Arturo Vidal, who has a background with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and the team is currently top of Chile's top division. According to local media, the contract is for 18 months.
Cape Verde was eliminated from the World Cup in the round of 16 against Argentina after a brilliant performance that forced the reigning champions into extra time.
