It was close, but there was no new World Cup gold for shooter Victor Lindgren.

The Olympic silver medalist from last year had to settle for silver at the World Championships in Cairo in 10 meter air rifle.

It was a very close final where Victor Lindgren and German Maximilian Dallinger were tied before the final shots.

Dallinger eventually won with 252.0 and Lindgren got 251.7. Afterwards he was satisfied with his performance:

"I didn't see this coming," the 22-year-old said after the competition, according to Radiosporten .

Lindgren was the reigning champion in the event. He won the World Championship gold medal two years ago in Baku, even though he was still a junior at the time. He was also the same last year when he won silver at the Olympics, only to be defeated by China's Sheng Lihao. In Cairo, he got revenge on Sheng, who finished third in the competition.

The 22-year-old from Sjöbo, who now lives in Sävsjö, started shooting when he was three. He can't make a living from his sport and works part-time as a welder.
