When the cross-country team travels to Norway this week for the sprint in Drammen and the 50 km in Holmenkollen, it will be without William Poromaa. The 25-year-old, who has had a difficult season and a disappointing Olympics behind him, will not compete again this World Cup season.

"The body is not reacting the way I want, and with so little time left in the season, it is the right decision to take a break here and instead focus long-term," says William Poromaa, who has the home World Championships in Falun next year on the horizon, said in a press release.

Edvin Anger has previously made the same decision.

However, Sweden is sending a strong women's team, not least for the 50-kilometer race in Holmenkollen.

"Now we are lining up, among others, with the Olympic distance champion, Ebba Andersson. Moa Ilar and Maja Dahlqvist are both in the top three in the World Cup overall standings and continue to chase important points," says Sweden's national team manager Anders Byström.
