The Athletic writes that the World Cup cities were promised one million dollars, equivalent to just over 9.5 million kronor each, to be used to develop football in local communities. The promise came after FIFA 2025 made similar payments to the cities that hosted matches during last summer's Club World Cup.
But the money has still not been paid out, while the World Cup committees are being wound up after the tournament and the financial reports are being submitted.
The US host cities during this summer's football festival were Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York/New Jersey, Miami and Boston.
FIFA has not commented on the information.
