The Swedish Museums of World Culture (SMVK) estimates the rent increase from the Swedish Real Estate Board at SEK 20.7 million over the period 2027 to 2029.

The authority emphasizes that it is no longer just a matter of being able to offer a relevant range of services to museum visitors. The mission of preserving the collections and expanding knowledge about them is also at risk.

In order for the authority to remain in the premises and fulfil its mission, a permanent contribution of at least SEK 35 million is required, according to SMVK.
