Novalie Engholm becomes the first Swedish female athlete in freestyle snowboard events to participate in a World Championship in 14 years.
She has been selected for the World Championship in Engadin on March 19-30.
"Novalie has taken big steps this season and shown that she belongs on the international scene", says national team captain Niklas Mattsson in a press release.
The last Swedish athlete in the World Championship was Mimmi Sandström, in slopestyle in the 2011 World Championship.
Other Swedish snowboarders selected for slopestyle and big air are Gabriel Almqvist, William Mathisen, and Nias Hedberg.
There will also be four Swedish participants in the freeski slopestyle and big air competitions at the World Championship in Engadin. They are Axel Burmansson, Martin Nordqvist, Oliwer Magnusson, and Victor Knutsen.
