Just as the final preparations for the World Championship with the national handball team in Malmö are underway, the French club releases the news in a press release.

Karlsson is leaving Montpellier and will join Paris SG after this season. He has signed until the end of the 2027 season.

Paris SG has also finalized with Croatian Mateo Maras.

"I am really thrilled about the opportunity to play for Paris Saint-Germain. It's a fantastic club with enormous ambitions and I can't wait to contribute to success by bringing my experience onto the pitch.

"I am determined to do so, give my best to contribute to further successes for the club – and entertain the fans", says the Swedish national team star in a press release.

Karlsson played for many years for Sävehof, where he won two Swedish Championship titles, before getting a contract with Montpellier in 2023.

The national team begins the group stage of the World Championship against Japan on January 16 and will play all their World Championship matches in Bærum outside Oslo.

The other teams in the group are Spain and Chile.

The national team gathered in Malmö on Monday and will meet Iceland in two friendly matches, on January 9 in Kristianstad and on January 11 in Malmö.
