The freshly crowned world champion Daniel Ståhl has landed – on Danish soil. Just over a day after the discus thrower won his World Championship gold in Tokyo, the 33-year-old arrived at Kastrup airport outside Copenhagen for onward travel to his hometown Malmö.

When Daniel Ståhl and his partner Fanny Roos, World Championship fifth in shot put, stepped out into the arrival hall, they received flowers from the Swedish Athletics Association.

With 70.47 meters in his last throw of Sunday's rainy final at the National Arena in Tokyo, Daniel Ståhl secured his third World Championship gold in his career.

However, there was no major celebration for Ståhl in the Japanese capital.

We're heading home early tomorrow, so no celebration at all, said Fanny Roos to Expressen on Sunday.

The discus final was interrupted after two throws when the rain poured down in Tokyo and the throwers had to wait for two hours for the competition to resume.

Ståhl also won Olympic Games gold in Tokyo 2021.
