After four years of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the destruction has reached an almost incalculable scale. In a report published on Monday, the World Bank estimates that Ukraine needs around SEK 5,330 billion.
The report says the sum is twelve percent higher than an assessment a year ago, and corresponds to three times Ukraine's annual GDP.
In addition to entire areas being reduced to ruins, Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have caused major economic damage.
The funds are estimated to be needed over a ten-year period. The Ukrainian government, the UN and the European Commission support the World Bank report.
