Several sports federations, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC), have opened the door to Russian athletes despite Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine. But one of the largest is steadfast in its refusal to ease sanctions.
"Our stance has not changed," World Athletics chairman Sebastian Coe reiterated on Sunday.
It's not about politics or passport affiliation, it's about integrity.
The Russian Athletics Federation has recently filed an appeal with CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, against the sanctions.
"It's clear that it's personal. He (Coe) is no longer speaking for World Athletics but for himself," Russian Athletics Federation President Boris Zaryshevsky told state-run Tass last week.
