American actor Tony Roberts, who appeared in several films by Woody Allen, has passed away at the age of 85.
Roberts often played Allen's best friend and appeared in films such as "Play It Again, Sam" (1972), "Annie Hall" (1977), "Stardust Memories" (1980), and "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986).
Roberts also had a long career on Broadway stages, where he also played in several of Allen's works that later became films.
"I've never had much luck with card games. I've never hit the jackpot. But I've had extreme luck in life" wrote Roberts in his published memoirs about the fact that he early in his youth understood that he wanted to become an actor.
Roberts' daughter announced his passing to The New York Times.
