Tiger Woods is skipping next week's Hero World Challenge on the Bahamas – a tournament he himself is hosting.
"I'm disappointed that I won't be able to participate and play in this year's Hero World Challenge, but I always look forward to being the tournament's host", he writes on X.
The 48-year-old golf legend doesn't give any reason for skipping the tournament, but earlier this fall, Woods underwent yet another back operation.
The Hero World Challenge is of unofficial status and doesn't award any points on the PGA tour. Only the very best in the world are invited – including Swedish Ludvig Åberg. World number five Åberg is one of the 20 "teeing off" on the island.
