The race takes place on Saturday evening and this year attracts a record number of women, many of them young.

According to Julia Liv Walerych, CEO and project manager for Midnattsloppet, the increased number of young women was noticeable last year, and has increased even more this year.

“Win-win”

She feels that it's about running being on the agenda and that many people are involved in running groups and other communities. She also says that social media has helped its rise.

The Midnight Run is a combination of serious runners who have trained for a long time, but also something that some people do with their friends or company, she says.

It's a "win-win". It's really fun to get together and socialize like that, and get some exercise.

Fake tickets

With a sold-out "hyped" race, however, there has been an added complication - namely warnings about fake tickets. Several cases of attempted sales of fake tickets have been reported to the organizer this year.

If you are going to buy a starting place, you will receive a value code that you then use to register. The person selling the place must have made a name change with us, and this could be done no later than August 10th.

Those looking for a second-hand place are welcome to contact the organizer's customer service to ensure that it is correct.

Don't pay anything in advance, and if you are unsure and notice that the person seems to want money quickly, be very vigilant.
