The police suspect that a woman has died in a villa fire in Borgholms municipality on Öland.
We cannot rule out that she was not in the residence. With the greatest likelihood, she was, says the police's press spokesperson Filip Annas.
It is unclear how the fire started and therefore the case is being investigated as suspected arson.
We will conduct technical investigations when the rescue work is completed, says Annas.
The villa, which the police suspect the woman was in, burned down to the ground on Friday night. The rescue service realized early on that they could not extinguish the fire and instead monitored it under controlled conditions, reports P4 Kalmar.
