The police were alerted shortly after 01 on Christmas Eve night and found the woman severely injured in an apartment. The woman was taken to hospital and is now being treated for serious injuries.
The man and woman were not strangers to each other, but what type of relationship they had is not clear, according to Göran Carlbom, duty officer at the police.
The apartment was not the woman's residence but has now been sealed off for technical investigation.
It is unclear in whose residence the incident occurred.
It's nothing I can comment on right now. We'll investigate the case as it has been reported to us and see if there are any connections and why it happened, says Christian Brattgård, the police's press spokesperson.
