The woman, who is in her 25 years, was driving a rental car when she was stopped by the police at a checkpoint in Strömstad on Boxing Day last year. As the woman had red, bloodshot eyes and appeared nervous, the police decided to search the car. In the trunk, a box containing almost 12 kilograms of cannabis was found – with a street value of at least one million kronor, according to the court.
In the woman's phone, the police found chats showing that she had been in contact with an unknown person about delivering a package to Norway.
The woman was under the influence of amphetamine when driving the car. She has admitted to driving under the influence of narcotics, but has denied the serious drug offense. Instead, she has claimed that she did not see the box in the car until she was stopped by the police.
