The woman is being prosecuted for crimes against five of her children and one grandchild. The crimes are said to have taken place between 2012 and 2022 and were part of the woman's upbringing method, according to Nils Eliasson.
This family has been frequently encountered by social services. It's about a large number of reports of concern from, among others, the school and neighbors, he says.
The woman is being prosecuted, among other things, for unlawful deprivation of liberty for having locked the children in various places in a residence. The charge of gross violation of integrity is due, according to Eliasson, to the fact that it was a matter of a systematic series of crimes over a long period of time.
Social services have received around 40 reports of concern since 2015 that children in the woman's family have been subjected to punishments and violence, reports P4 Kronoberg.
The woman was reported to the police already in 2019 and 2020, but since family members stated that "everything was fine at home".
Taking that into account, this became a current investigation for us in connection with the woman's eldest child going to the police last spring to tell about their upbringing and about their concern for their younger siblings, says Eliasson.
They also said that they had lied during interrogations over the years because they had been instructed by the woman, among others, to do so.
According to Eliasson, the children had no opportunities to get out on their own. She is also being prosecuted for gross violation of integrity against one of the children and for gross assault and unlawful coercion against another of the children.
In August 2024, charges were brought against the mother for crimes against one of the four children now involved, as well as against an additional child.
The woman was then prosecuted for having pressed her nine-year-old daughter's face into horse manure. She denies all the crimes, reports P4 Kronoberg.
