"This watch means a lot to my father and family. I respectfully ask if it is possible to acquire or buy the watch," the woman writes in an email to the region, Sydöstran reports.
Over 100 years ago, her great-grandmother was admitted to Karlshamn Hospital. In exchange, she gave the watch, which her son supposedly made, to the hospital.
According to the law, regions are generally not allowed to transfer property. However, if the object is deemed to have negligible economic value, they are allowed to transfer ownership.
An auction house has now been asked to value the watch. The answer could be decisive in whether the watch is allowed to travel west.
