Police were alerted at noon on Sunday that a serious violent crime had been committed in a home in a community outside Ludvika.
A woman in her 60s is dead, and a man in his 60s has been arrested.
He has been arrested on suspicion of murder, says police spokesperson Christina Hallin.
The two were in a relationship, according to police.
The home where the woman was found has been cordoned off for a forensic examination.
