A woman in her 60s has died in a traffic accident on Highway 19 just outside Kristianstad at 10:16 on Wednesday, according to the police.
The woman was driving a car that for unknown reasons crossed over to the wrong side of the road and collided with a truck.
At 10:15, we received an alarm about a traffic accident on Highway 19. We quickly realized that it was a serious accident, with a car colliding with an oncoming truck, says police spokesperson Fredrik Bratt.
The woman died in connection with the accident. The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, is not suspected of any crime.
The truck driver escaped without physical injuries. We have conducted an interview with him to get his account of the traffic accident, and we have documented the scene as thoroughly as possible with a drone in the air to get an overview, says Bratt.
The road was closed in connection with the accident, which caused significant disruptions to traffic, but was later reopened.
