The woman called the police herself and was arrested on suspicion of murder when the police arrived and found an elderly woman dead at the address.
"The investigation shows that the victim was strangled, but no obvious motive for the act could be established during the investigation," says prosecutor Amanda Åkesson in a press release.
"The accused woman has made certain admissions about the course of events during the preliminary investigation, but has also stated that she lacks some memories and has denied responsibility for the crime."
