Last year, the woman sent Son an ultrasound image and claimed that she was expecting his child. Threatening to make it public, she blackmailed him for almost two million kronor. The woman then tried, together with another man who is now sentenced to two years in prison, to pressure Son Heung-Min for more money. The 33-year-old star player then contacted the police, after which both the woman and the man were arrested.
The judge in the trial, which was held in the South Korean capital Seoul, said the woman took extreme measures in her blackmail. In addition to threats and attempts to extort money from him, she also contacted media outlets and advertising agencies to try to destroy Son's reputation.
After ten years at Tottenham, Son Heung-Min left the club this summer to play in Los Angeles, becoming the most expensive MLS signing of all time.
