A woman has died when a bomb exploded in Thessaloniki in Greece. The police estimate that the woman herself carried the explosive charge to detonate it at a bank.
The explosion occurred on the sidewalk in front of a bank office, at an intersection in the city's central parts, around five o'clock in the morning, reports Greek media. The woman was taken to hospital where she later died of her injuries.
According to Greek police, the woman had been involved in robberies and other crimes previously. It is also being investigated whether she had ties to left-wing extremist groups.
