The woman was remanded in custody on probable cause at Nyköping District Court. When the woman was arrested on Saturday, she was initially suspected of assault; the classification was later changed to attempted murder.
"It has to do with the age of the victim and the circumstances. In my opinion, attacking such a young child is not manslaughter. The person was so defenseless that it would be murder," prosecutor Adolf Moberg Oleszkiewicz told SN.
The child was not seriously injured in the incident. The detained woman has no connection to the child.
