Pichler most recently achieved success with Bulgaria, where, in a consulting role, he helped secure a sensational Olympic bronze medal in February.
Now the German - a successful coach of the Swedish national team on several occasions - is stepping into Austria. The Austrians only took one podium finish in the World Cup last season and will host a World Cup in Hochfilzen in two years.
I help them (the national team coaches) set up training programs and make sure the training works, and I also have contact with the active players, Pichler tells DN.
The 71-year-old, who has also coached the Russian women's national team, does not feel any pressure.
I survived in Russia, so I will survive in Austria too.
