A wolf was shot when it attacked sheep and cattle in a meadow in Katrineholm, reports P4 Sörmland. No domestic animals were killed in the attack.
The wolf was shot by a person in the area. Markus Södling, wildlife manager at the County Administrative Board, tells the radio that they first tried to scare the wolf away, but when it didn't succeed, it was shot.
According to the hunting ordinance, the person had the right to shoot the wolf, which states that animal owners on their own initiative may shoot predators to save domestic animals.
The County Administrative Board is now awaiting DNA tests to find out which pack the wolf belonged to.
