The protective hunting of wolves in areas around Gnesta and Flen is extended since no animals have yet been found, reports Södermanlands Nyheter.
The decision on protective hunting was made at the end of May this year after several wolf attacks on domestic livestock occurred in Gnesta, Strängnäs and Flen municipalities. The extension means that the protective hunting can now continue until July 23, or until the wolf is shot, and applies immediately.
"Since no wolf has been killed through the previous decisions at the same time as new attacks by wolves have occurred on sheep flocks within the previous protective hunting area, the County Administrative Board sees a need to also continue to prevent serious damage", the County Administrative Board writes in the decision according to SN.
