NDR reported that the wolf in question was captured on Monday evening. It was caught in a snare while swimming in Hamburg's Binnenalster lake.
The animal is believed to be the same wolf that was observed in Hamburg over the weekend.
The wolf has been taken into the care of a veterinarian and transported to a zoo, where a decision will be made about its future. There is no information on the woman's condition.
Wolves have been observed in Hamburg on more than 20 occasions since 2013, according to wildlife authorities.
