A dad was playing with his two kids near the location in Uppsala when he heard the shots. I probably thought it was a shooting, but no one reacted, he tells TT.

A man, who does not want to give his name, tells that he was in S:t Göransparken, a stone's throw from the place where the shooting occurred. He was there with his two small children when he heard two loud bangs first, followed by a few more bangs.

The two first ones sounded much louder, then it was a bit duller, as if they were indoors, I want to remember.

I probably thought it was a shooting, but nobody reacted, so we stayed put.

"It was so calm"

Some of the adults went to see what was happening.

Since it's Walpurgis Eve, it often happens that there's mischief and such. I would have reacted differently if there were people running and screaming. But it was so calm.

Shortly afterwards, a police car came driving at high speed. Soon, several patrols were on the scene, as well as ambulances.

The police urged curious onlookers to move away from the scene. Quickly, the area was cordoned off, and police cars circled the area, says the man.

According to eyewitness accounts, a person on an electric scooter left the scene.

The witness tells that he and several other people who were in the park about half an hour before the shots saw two black-clad individuals in the park, one who was masked with some kind of balaclava or face mask.

Saw two people

One of the people he saw is said to have walked away from the scene while the other left on an electric scooter of a more advanced model. The father emphasizes that it may be a pure coincidence.

But I got a bit of a bad vibe just then. They seemed like shady people, I thought it might be drug-related. I maybe should have contacted the police then, but you can't just contact them because someone looks shady.

The father contacted the police later in the evening and told them what he had seen.

I would call back if I had more info from others in the park, but they hadn't seen more than what I saw.
