The US envoy, Steve Witkoff, will meet with high-ranking Israeli and Qatari officials in Rome on Wednesday for new talks on a ceasefire and the hostage agreement in Gaza, reports Axios.
Witkoff travels to the meeting with a "great hope for an agreement on a new ceasefire and a humanitarian corridor for the influx of emergency aid, which both parties can agree on", according to a statement from the US State Department.
The meeting in Rome will take place at the same time as negotiators from the terrorist-stamped Hamas and Israel hold indirect talks in Doha.
Witkoff has made it clear to the parties in recent weeks that he will only participate in the talks in Doha if an agreement is imminent.
