Earlier this year, Sweden and Denmark submitted a joint application to host the 2029 European Championship. After Portugal's withdrawal, the applications from Germany and Poland are the only ones left and are challenging the Nordic countries.
Portugal justifies the decision by focusing on the 2030 Men's World Cup, as the country is one of a total of six host countries.
The European Football Association, UEFA, will make a decision on the hosting of Euro 2029 on December 3.
