A man who broke windows and caused other damage to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance's home in Ohio has been arrested, the U.S. Secret Service announced.

At midnight, bodyguards heard a loud noise at Vance's home in Cincinnati and determined that a man had broken a window with a hammer and was trying to get in, according to sources. He also allegedly vandalized a bodyguard's vehicle in the driveway of the house.

The man was arrested shortly after midnight, a Secret Service spokesperson said.

No one was living in the house at the time.

Republican J.D. Vance was an Ohio senator before becoming vice president.
