For several years, Kinski has been trying to get Wenders to cut the scene where she lies on a bed wearing only panties, with a 30-year-old man in underwear on top of her.
Wim Wenders did not want to change anything. But the debate began at the end of May, when Kinski spoke out about the discomfort she felt.
It was my first film, he was my first director and he did not protect me, she told Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Wenders withdrew the film in June. The director's foundation and Kinski now write in a joint statement that he has apologized. Both want the memory of the film not to be overshadowed by the conflict.
