The proposal to include roller skiing competitions in the World Cup comes from the Italian Winter Sports Federation and is based on growing interest in the sport, as well as the challenges it faces as a result of global warming.
William Poromaa is critical of the proposal.
"You have to keep in mind that competing on roller skis and on snow is really not the same. It's very different," he tells SVT Sport.
The 2027–28 season is mentioned as a possible starting point for roller skiing in the World Cup, provided the proposal gets the green light from FIS.
