Hockey news revealed on Wednesday morning that Nylander had said yes and is on his way to the World Championship in Stockholm.
In the afternoon, the official message came from Tre Kronor that Nylander was registered and ready to play.
"Welcome to Tre Kronor, William Nylander. William joins the team during the day and is ready to play in the quarterfinals writes Tre Kronor on its X-account.
"Can win on his own"
Sweden meets the Czech Republic in the World Championship quarterfinal on Thursday evening at the Globen.
A fantastic player to get in. He is a gamebreaker, he can win matches on his own. Extremely skilled offensively, hard to meet, very clever and finds ways to get open and one-on-one, says Backlund.
Nylander became the top Swedish goal scorer this season with 45 goals, his best goal scoring in his NHL career, after landing on 40 goals both last season and the year before.
"A world-class player"
Toronto was eliminated by Florida in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs on Monday night. In the playoffs, Nylander scored 15 points (6 goals+9 assists) in 13 matches.
It means a lot to us, it's a world-class player and you always take such a player, says Lucas Raymond, Detroit forward.
Mikael Backlund doesn't see any problem for Nylander to fit in directly into a quarterfinal.
He was eliminated (from the playoffs) quite recently, so he hasn't been away from the ice for so long. Then it's of course an adjustment with the big rink, the flight, and the time change. But it's not the first time he's flown across the Atlantic, says he.
