The victory was secured in the classic Karin's hill, where the Danish-Kenyan runner shook off the competitors and was able to cross the finish line in solitary majesty. The time was set to 1.37.15 – a triumph exactly ten years after his first win from 2015.
I do not know how I will celebrate, I am just happy, says the winner in SVT's broadcast and continues:
It is a fantastic race. I have never run a race that resembles this.
Behind him, last year's runner-up Ebba Tulu Chala from Hässelby SK made a strong effort and kept pace with Morwabe for a long time, but had to give up. Chala finished second, eleven seconds behind the winner, and thus became the best Swedish athlete.
Simon Sundström from Djurgårdens IF came in third.
Cross-country skier Jens Burman also showed his skills and made it to 21st place in the prestigious race.
Carolina Johnson delivered a fantastic performance on the women's side. With a time of 1.49.19, she ran to victory – and lowered the previous track record by over two minutes.
I enjoyed it. It is a wonderful feeling to succeed, she says after the race.
Johnson took an early lead and no one could keep up. Thus, she took her second victory in the classic cross-country race, after the triumph also in 2023.
Behind her, the Dane Sylvia Medugu Kiberenge fought bravely. She improved the old record herself, but still had to settle for second place – just under two minutes behind the dominant Swede.
