"William will continue to be examined and treated over the next few days. It's too early to answer whether the injury prevents William from playing the World Championship", writes Tre Kronor on X.

Eklund got a opponent's skate blade over his left wrist during the third period in Brno and left the ice with severe pain. After an initial examination by the national team doctor, the 22-year-old was taken to a hospital.

On Saturday evening, Eklund himself published a picture on Instagram of a heavily bandaged arm.

"Everything is okay, thanks for all the support", he wrote.

Sweden plays the World Championship premiere against Slovakia in Stockholm on Friday.
