Stock markets in China continue to decline this week, while Tokyo is turning up.

Japan's Nikkei 225 continues to recover after Monday's sharp decline.

The index has had a turbulent month, with both gains and losses on individual days. Wednesday's trading was again marked by gains in the morning, and the index had risen 1.5 percent just after lunch. The broader Topix remained around zero.

South Korea's Kospi has also increased in morning trading, and was up 1.3 percent at lunchtime.

Stock markets in China fell slightly on Wednesday. Shenzhen was down 0.2 percent at midday, Shanghai fell 0.1 percent and the Hong Kong-based Hang Seng had fallen 1.0 percent at the time.
