Graham Potter showed no interest in investing in veteran Robin Olsen. Instead, he appointed Viktor Johansson as the national team's first goalkeeper. Jacob Widell Zetterström showed against Slovenia that he is challenging for that position. I am satisfied, it may not be a perfect performance, but I am very proud and satisfied, he says.

Johansson, who was under threat of a warning and slightly injured, watched the World Cup qualifiers from the sidelines. What he and everyone else noticed was a debutant in a competitive context with the national team who was security itself.

In the stands sat loved ones.

It was a lot of fun. Really special for me with my competitive debut in the national team. It's the best thing you can do as a footballer to represent your nation, but it's a bit sad that we don't get all three points.

Paying tribute to the friend

Widell Zetterström's performance could give national team captain Potter a headache. Johansson was not at his best against Switzerland on Saturday. But poking his friend between the posts is not a topic of conversation Widell Zetterström likes to delve into.

Viktor is a very good goalkeeper. There is no doubt about that. Or Noel Törnqvist and Kristoffer Nordfeldt for that matter. I am happy with my performance. We will simply have to see. Ultimately it is about what you perform week in and week out in your club team.

Denmark, Turkey, Italy or Ukraine await in the playoff. Any opponent you prefer?

Nothing specific. What I've seen these days, I feel very confident in this group. We'll see who it will be and whoever it will be, I'm convinced that we will tackle it in the best way.

There are many exciting opponents in that pot, says Widell Zetterström.

Knowledge that never disappears

How will you be able to maintain the foundation you laid during the first collection with Graham Potter?

You shouldn't go around thinking about a national team meeting several months in advance, but now we know what we want and what we can do. Based on that, I think everyone has the basic pieces in place for March. It's football knowledge that doesn't disappear in a few months.

The World Cup qualifier against Slovenia ended 1–1. On Thursday, at 1 pm in Zurich, the playoff draw for the World Cup will be held. The semi-final will be played on March 24. Regardless of the opposition, Sweden will play it away.
