There are three clear reasons why the Swedish women's football team should want to clear at least a draw, and preferably win, against Denmark at Strawberry arena tonight.
The most obvious one is that it gives a spot in the autumn's Nations League finals, where the four top nations compete for the title. It means something even if it hasn't quite got a big boost on the women's side yet, says Chelsea defender Nathalie Björn.
It still feels a bit new. But when it's a tournament, you want to win. That's what's fun about it, so I hope we can move on, she says.
Meet again soon
Still, it's impossible to avoid that the Swedish players value the European Championship higher. And that's where the next motivation for Tuesday's match comes into the picture.
Sweden starts the summer's European Championship in Switzerland with the premiere on July 4 - against Denmark.
Blågult started the Nations League by defeating the Danes on away ground (2-1) in February, and a new victory would further strengthen the team ahead of the European Championship, believes Fridolina Rolfö.
I think it would have meant a lot, says Barcelona star.
Most of all, it's about feeling that you have an upper hand against a team. To go in with that feeling in the European Championship, to know that you've won two matches against them, I absolutely believe that would strengthen us.
"Tricky"
There is also a third benefit of winning their Nations League group. The tournament is, after all, the basis for the qualification to the World Championship 2027.
For comparison, Sweden came third in the group stage in the previous edition of the Nations League, which gave a lower seeding group ahead of the qualification to the European Championship in Switzerland. That led, in turn, to Sweden being drawn against two top nations, both France and England, in the European Championship qualification.
Does it sound tricky? It is, too, says Sweden's national team coach Peter Gerhardsson.
Nations League has been tricky, I can say. It's very special conditions, says Gerhardsson.
At the same time, there is in the back of one's mind that one needs to perform to give oneself a good starting position ahead of future tournaments and championships.
It becomes more of an extra bonus, but it's important. It can otherwise mean that you get a tougher draw and tough opponents in the upcoming World Championship qualification.
