WHO sees encouraging signs in Ebola fight in Congo-Kinshasa

The Ebola outbreak in Congo-Kinshasa is still spreading, but efforts to contain the infection appear to be working, according to the World Health Organization.

"We are starting to see encouraging signs that we are gaining ground," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a press conference in Geneva on Wednesday.

The outbreak in Congo-Kinshasa has resulted in 7,200 registered cases and 3,475 confirmed deaths as of September 12, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
