"The hospitals in Gaza have once again become battlefields and the healthcare system is under serious threat", writes WHO's chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on X and simultaneously states that it is unknown where the hospital chief is located.
According to Israel's military, the hospital chief is suspected of being a Hamas fighter.
After Friday's and Saturday's raids, northern Gaza's last major hospital has been put out of operation, according to WHO. The hospital has been emptied of patients and those in critical condition have been moved to the Indonesian hospital, which is also deemed to be out of operation, writes the WHO chief.
Israel's military claims that the attack was directed against terrorist-stamped Hamas and the hospital is used as a "hideout for terrorists". Israel reports that over "240 terrorists" have been detained.
