The series, with Rolf Lassgård in the lead role as Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin, was awarded at a ceremony in Naples where the director Björn Stein and the producer Jan Marnell received the award.
The series competed against productions from France and Germany. It depicts the dramatic days of 1981 when the Soviet submarine U-137 ran aground in the Blekinge archipelago.
"We are proud to be able to bring out Swedish drama on the international arena", says the director Björn Stein in a press release.
The series, based on an idea by Jonas Jonasson, was broadcast on SVT in Christmas 2024. In September, it took home a prize at the Kristallen gala - however, in the category of comedy and humor of the year.
