Wheelchair user forced to crawl onto bus, Swedish Ombudsman demands 100,000 kronor in compensation from Region Örebro

In his complaint to the Discrimination Ombudsman (DO), the man has described nine occasions in 2025 when he had difficulty boarding buses. Drivers have either been unwilling or unable to use the bus's wheelchair lift. In some cases, it has not worked.

"On a couple of occasions, drivers have lifted him onto the bus or tried to do so against his will," DO writes.

"Those responsible for public transport must live up to their obligations and not discriminate against people with disabilities," says DO's section manager Karin Henriksson in a press release .

Region Örebro admits it has failed in its responsibility.
