The main points:

The government will present a bill with new rules for family immigration before the summer. It will include a "valve" that would allow residence permits to be granted to close relatives in more situations than today. Exactly what the valve will look like and how many people will be covered remains unclear.

While awaiting new legislation, the Swedish Migration Board has announced that it is pausing decisions on all current cases, saying the upcoming changes are moving in a positive direction.

Revoke already granted permanent residence permits:

An internal inquiry has been launched to urgently develop additions to the proposals presented last fall. Among other things, it will develop proposals for realistic opportunities to obtain Swedish citizenship and assess how large the costs would be.

However, the Tidö parties do not agree on how the proposals should be implemented. New negotiations will be needed for the next term.

Work permit:

Those who have a temporary work permit, granted through the so-called track change, will be able to apply for a new permit from within Sweden, provided they have an income that meets the salary requirement, which will be increased to SEK 33,400 in June. Currently, they must leave the country to make a new application.

Exceptions to the salary requirement:

The government will produce a list of shortage occupations that will be exempt from the wage requirement. When determining these occupations, "a high capacity in healthcare and social care will be safeguarded", which means that occupations in healthcare and social care will be exempted.

Residence permit for Ukrainians:

Ukrainians who are in Sweden with the support of the mass exodus directive should be able to switch to labor immigration or study while in Sweden.

The government is also looking at solutions to be able to continue receiving residence permits when the mass exodus directive expires. This will apply to those who have difficulty returning to Ukraine or have a job that does not meet the salary requirement.
