Hunger in parts of Nigeria is heading towards "unprecedented levels" due to jihadist attacks and instability, the WFP wrote in a statement.
Nearly 35 million people are expected to face severe food insecurity from May to September 2026. In Borno state, the center of the jihadist insurgency, 15,000 people are expected to “experience catastrophic hunger,” the WFP writes.
In the conflict, over 40,000 people have been killed and around two million have been displaced.
