The 24-year-old is the 26th athlete to be selected for the Swedish squad for the Olympics in Milan and Cortina.
I shed tears when I got the news. I had an inner will that said it felt pointless to just give up. I feel very well prepared. I feel strong and I am following the plan with my team, she says.
Previously, Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson (both skiing), Hanna Öberg and Sebastian Samuelsson (both biathlon) and Walter Wallberg (moguls) have been selected, among others.
"We look to have a squad that is about the same size and has about the same striking power as at the last Games in Beijing 2022," says Fredrik Joulamo, sports director and squad manager at the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK), in a statement.
In the Chinese capital, Olympic debutant Frida Westman finished in 16th place. At the most recent World Cup competition, in Klingenthal, Germany, she came in ninth, and the Swede has finished third at best, in Wisla, Poland, in these competitions.
The Olympics will be held February 6–22.
